Iberian and Latin American Studies

The Department of Iberian and Latin American Studies of the University of Paris-Sorbonne is dedicated to the study and teaching of languages, literature and civilization of the Iberian (Spain and Portugal) and Iberian-American (Spanish America and Brazil) world, from the middle ages through to the 20th century.

The Department of Iberian Studies also offers a course in Catalan which takes place at the Catalan Studies Center (Centre d’Études Catalanes).

The Marcel Bataillon library, 31 rue Gay Lussac, 3rd floor, is a gem of the Department, with 30.000 volumes and a collection of old books. This library houses the Hispanic editions.

Research seminars covering all fields of disciplines are organized within the four research groups and research centers which make up the Department.

The Department publishes a review : Iberica (two issues per year) edited by PUPS. The professors responsible for the review are : Jean-Paul Duviols and Annie Molinié.
